MANIFESTO
We are aware that we are facing a change of era that is the consequence of several factors: the collapse of a predatory model that threatens human dignity, the extension of awareness of the need to change and new opportunities for social and technological organization.
We must recognize the importance of the moment in which we live and prevent skepticism, ignorance or fear from prevailing over the opportunity to build a better world.
In recent times, numerous initiatives for social and economic transformation have shown new ways of thinking and acting. Far from constituting utopian proposals, many of these initiatives are already success stories in different geographical spaces. However, although they were born with a vocation to collaborate and connect, most of them operate in a fragmented and dispersed way. In order to promote their development and consolidation in the future, we believe it is necessary to increase the scope and impact of these proposals and to facilitate the coordination of their actions.
Believing that we can take advantage of this opportunity, various people, collectives, associations, companies and organizations working to build a new way of doing economy have decided to coordinate their efforts. To show that another world is possible, by creating it.
This manifesto expresses the principles on which our will to move forward together is based.
Being an active part of the transitionWe live in a world in transition. Nothing will ever be the same again. A new paradigm emerges. We can build our future or let others do it for us. We work to empower ourselves as agents of change.
Rehearsing transformations
We want to transform. Rather than dealing with the effects of a system that does not work, we intend to try proposals that remove its causes.
Action-reflection-action
It's time to act. It's time to learn by doing, to rehearse and experiment. Reflection is built in the process, participatively.
Direct and effective participation
We promote formulas of participation that ensure the effective intervention and influence of people and communities in all spheres of decision affecting their conditions and quality of life.We call for an institutional and regulatory framework that facilitates the processes of change and the development of collaborative initiatives and practices.
Use technology as an enabling tool
We defend the accessible and open use of technology.
The critical and conscious use of technology allows us to accelerate the change of paradigm in which we are immersed; it broadens our capacity to relate and work together; it empowers us to assume new roles as creators and producers; and, it allows us to try at low cost and agile other ways of facing old problems.Cooperation against competition
We promote solidarity, empathy and collaboration as values that dignify human relations and enrich them.
Multiple initiatives and ongoing experiences show that cooperation and collaboration effectively solve individual and collective problems in contrast to the model based on individual interest and competition. We strive to show and extend their practice.
We encourage and accompany processes of collective entrepreneurship that are subject to communities and that require new methods and frameworks of action.
Recognizing abundance
Faced with the paradigm of artificial scarcity, we start from the illusionary evidence of abundance.
An environment of accessible, open and freely shared knowledge, of distributed and connected talent. An environment of citizens, creators and producers, of collective initiatives for transformation, of technologies that extend and give greater scope to our capacities.Governance of the Commons
Faced with the dichotomy between the public and the private, we claim the existence of a third category of appropriation, the commons, made up of all those values, rights and goods that, through their governance in community, enable the free development of our capacities as human beings in conditions of justice and equity.
Development on a human scale
In the face of uniform, inefficient and unsustainable processes of concentration and accumulation, we defend the right to difference, the small and diverse, the ethics of care, open and shared knowledge, distributed local production and the connection and cooperation between communities as a means of solving global needs.
Responsible and sustainable economy
We promote an economy oriented towards an environmentally and socially responsible use of resources, the maintenance of natural balances and respect for biodiversity and the improvement of people's living conditions and quality of life.
